GLOBAL TALENT VISA

Recent changes to the Rules have removed the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) route and have placed it with a “Global Talent” visa which is available for the following broad categories:

  • Those who are recognised leaders (individuals with exceptional talent);
  • Those who are emerging leaders (individuals with exceptional promise);
  • Those who have a Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) endorsement.

The Global Talent route is designed to introduce the United Kingdom’s skills market to world leaders in their respective field. The sentiment behind this route is that those who are gifted in field such as sciences, engineering, arts, humanities and technology should remain attracted to the United Kingdom’s labour market. The advantage of this route is that it permits access to the labour market and to the United Kingdom without requiring you to make any form of financial investment and it leads to settlement within 3 or 5 years.

An application under this route will be reviewed by an organisation related to you qualifying field which include:

  • The Royal Society for science and medicine;
  • The Royal Academy of Engineering;
  • The British Academy;
  • Tech Nation;
  • Arts Council of England;
  • UK Research and Innovation (UKRI);
  • British Fashion Council;
  • Royal Institute of Architects;
  • Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (PACT);

SMA understands that these changes and the application process may come across as daunting and is here to help every step of the way from advising you obtaining endorsement (which can take around 8 weeks), to make the application for a visa and – if required – representing you in relation to any refusals. The application process is rigorous and competitive.
